In this video, I go over Minecraft World Explorer for iOS. This is an application that brings the Minecraft to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Aesthetically, I found Minecraft WE pleasing, but in terms of functionality I was rather disappointed. The game resembled Minecraft classic than the version of Minecraft that we use today. Despite this, the application was universal which means you only have to purchase it once to get it onto your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

There have been a plethora of articles detailing the “death” of the Mac Mini and/or the Mac Pro. In the words of the mighty Mark Twain, “reports of [the Mac Mini’s and the Mac Pro’s] death have been greatly exaggerated].

Let’s be frank, Apple is known to either find or generate peculiar market segments and excel in them. Even when they don’t accomplish much in that market segment, they rarely escape it, rather, they divert more attention to that market segment and try to innovate on that area. Take the Apple TV, for example. It’s survived years, despite it’s minuscule market penetration. During it’s time, Apple has iterated the device multiple times, and has given it one of their most revolutionary “go-to market strategies” ever, Airplay. Apple has not given up, and while the Apple TV we know today might be severely different from it’s predecessor, the core product, and target market remain the same. The failure of the Apple TV, gave Apple the motivation to work harder, and execute a better product.

Apple very well may be “reevaluating” the Mac Pros and the Mac Minis, but the last thing they have on their minds is termination. The matter of the fact is, Apple hasn’t given up on a market segment for more than 10 years, and diminishing target markets are simply opportunities for Apple go expand upon. While the Mac Pros and the Mac Minis as we know them today may be gone in a matter of months, I’m sure that Apple has something all the more innovative in store. I eagerly welcome this change, do you?

There are a lot of people who set out to inspire, and a few of them actually manage to achieve this. Not Steve Jobs. He didn’t merely inspire people, he gave them hope, passion, and courage. While Steve Jobs may have contributed to many people’s lives with his many Apple products, or Pixar movies, he has influenced my life in a more direct and meaningful way. Steve Jobs gave me passion. For the longest time, I was just a kid who sat and watched TV all day long. Steve Jobs changed that. Because of him, and his beautiful consumer electronics, I began to devour knowledge about technology and Apple. Because of him, and his wonderful work at Pixar, I aspire to one day become a film maker. Because of him, I have found passions, that will not only last through my next 4 years of high school, but my life time. Because of him, I no longer fear talking to crowds larger than 3. Because of him, I no longer fear failure, but embrace it. Because of Steve Jobs, my days are filled with happiness and hopefulness. And really, that’s all anyone could ever give to me.

I would like to thank Steve for everything he has done for me, and everyone else who looked up to him as a hero.

Today, my YouTube channel hit 100 thousand total upload views, which is around 100 thousand more views than I thought I’d ever get. I remember the day, when I had finally hit 2 thousand total upload (like 124 days ago). Now, I can break 2 thousand on a good day. Thanks for all the awesome support, and keep on being awesome :)

An Open Letter to Steve Jobs; Failure

Dear Mr. Jobs,

This past decade has been magical; You’ve filled them with opinions and innovations, but that’s not what this letter is about.

When a person sets out to accomplish a task, he sets a goal for himself. From my understanding, your goal was to “put a ding in the universe”. As an avid user of Apple products, you might be surprised to hear that in my opinion, you’ve utterly failed your goal. One might argue, that the plethora of devices and concepts you’ve pushed out will set your mark for eternity (or at least a couple hundred years), but I don’t believe that. When we read history books, we read about the heros that have shaped our world for the better or (in some instances) the villans that have shaped it for the worst. You have in no way shaped our world. You’ve merely built on top of it. To be precise, you haven’t done anything memorable enough to withstand 300 years. Take the iPhone. No one can say with confidence that we’ll even be using phones in the next couple hundred years. This can be applied to every single thing you’ve done because technology dies, just like humans. And the only place technology can mark somewhere is the present.

You may think that I have no position to talk, but I’m apart of the world you’re trying to shape. We may have conflicting opinions, but I commend a tremendous amount of respect for you, and I hope to one day achieve a fraction of what you have. However, that’s my goal. You, on the other hand, are eons away from reaching your goal, or your potential. And as you leave the Apple campus no longer as CEO, for the second time, I find it appropriate for you to have failed again, just like the last time you left, rather forced out, without the CEO title. I hope this failure fuels you to discover what it is you truly want to accomplish with the remaining years of your life, and while you may think that it’s further devoting your life to Apple as “Chairman of the Board”, I believe that you can do something even more magical.
